October Winter Wonderland!

Well, the past few days of weather have been very interesting. Lots of snow, snow and more snow. I love snow! I guess that's a good thing since I live in Colorado. I also love that within a few days it will be gone. When the sun is out, (which we all know happens often here with 300+ days of sunshine) even those cold days feel warm.

Many of my friends ask me "Reese, so what do you do on those days when the weather is bad since most of your work is done on vehicles outside?" Well, unfortunately I don't do much unless someone needs a repair done and has a garage or a place to get the vehicle out of the weather. So another thing I love to do is cook. Yesterday when it was cold and snowy I decided to make my favorite chili recipe! I want to share it with my customers and blog readers, so here it is:

Brown 2 lbs ground beef in a skillet with
-1 cup chopped yellow onion
-3/4 cup chopped green pepper
-1 Jalapeno seeded and chopped
-1 clove of minced garlic

Once that is browned drain the meat and put it in a crock pot combined with
-1-15 oz can of whole tomatoes (chopped) I put them in our silver bullet
-1-15 oz can of tomato sauce
-1 can of kidney beans
-1 can of Rotelle Original Tomatoes and Green Chiles
-1 Tbsp Chili Powder
-1 tsp Dried Oregano
-2 tsp Cumin
-1/2 tsp dried crushed basil
-pinch of kosher salt
-1/4 tsp fresh black pepper

I usually let it simmer in the crock pot for at least a few hours before eating. If it starts to boil in crock pot you might want to stir it occasionally. Otherwise, you can leave it in there as long as you want.

I usually make some cornbread to go with it!! Delicious!! Perfect to enjoy on a snowy winter day!

Travel games!

I remember when I was a kid we would take the family road trips and play games such as who could spot the most VW Beetles. When you saw one, the first person to yell "slug bug" got the point. We would also play Bee Bee Bumble Bee, where you had to pick an item and say its color and your family had to guess what you picked. Fun times indeed!

Well, now that I am in the windshield repair business there is only one thing I notice on almost every single auto in the Denver area. You guessed it a broken windshield! Next time you come to a stop light look over at the car next to you and check the windshield, it seems like every other one is shattered. Some are so bad I don't see how the driver can even see where they are going. Then I think "you know if only they would have had that little rock chip fixed to begin with, that wouldn't have happened". I even heard someone say the other day "I think I will wait and see what happens to it?" HUH! Well I can tell you one thing it will not heal itself and it will probably grow up to be a big crack! Don't wait! If you have a chip call today and have it repaired. Save yourself TIME (we come to you), MONEY (chips are cheap compared to the expensive replacement glass you will inevitably need if you don't fix it), and the ENVIRONMENT(around 11 million windshields are replaced every year! That's 275 MILLION pounds of glass thrown into our landfills) all because that harmless little rock chip wasn't repaired promptly.

Please take advantage of this great service today! Call 720-256-7078 ask for Roo and let me go to work for you! Slug Bug!

Why is Roo's different?

1. We care about performing the best repair possible. Alot of technicians break out the drill right off the bat. The reason they do this is the repair will be easier to fill and they can move on to the next customer faster. The downfall is you will always be able to see the drill hole...believe me not pretty at all.

-At Roo's we pride ourselves on achieving the best looking repairs possible and only drill as a last resort. If we are doing a crack repair we will always have to drill at the end of the crack to keep it from spreading, but for chip repairs we rarely drill(less than 1% of the time).

2. We take the time to make sure the repair is done right. Some shops will tell you "we can have that chip taken care of in 20 min". Well in some cases we might have it done that fast too. However, we do not time our repairs, we will take the time to make sure you receive the best possible repair no matter how long it takes. Many factors play a roll in determining how long the repair time takes. (i.e. temperature of glass, age of break, and size of break.)

The bottom line is Roo's wants to earn your windshield repair business for life and wants you to tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers, classmates, fellow church members, and anyone else you know that they should be taking advantage of our services and help them to save time, money, and our landfills!

So call me today and see how great windshield repair can be (720)256-7078. If you are not happy we are not happy and will not charge you one red cent! GUARANTEED!

Spring Cleaning Time!

Wow! We are off to a beautiful spring and the weather has been fantastic these last few weeks. Now that the chances of snow are diminshing it is time to clean that automobile up and get ready for summer!

One thing I like to due with our cars every spring is hand wash them thoroughly and put a nice coat of wax or polish on to protect the paint. My favorite brand is Zaino Bros. (http://www.zainobros.com/) and trust me I have tried alot. What I like best about this polish is if some gets on the moldings it doesn't leave a white chalky coating that is nearly impossible to remove. Also this polish lasts along time and is easy to apply and remove.

Don't forget to inspect that windshield too and call Roo's to repair any damage before it spreads into a long crack. As always most full coverage insurance will pay 100% of the repair cost and it will not cost you anything and we take care of the paperwork, quick and painless! We also come to you at work, home, or anywhere in between!

I want to thank all of my customers for relying on me for taking care of their windshield preventative maintenace and I would also like thank you for referring me to your friends and co-workers!

Take care and stay tuned for my next windshield repair tip on the next posting of "Save Your Windshield"

Did you know your windshield serves many purposes?

Windshields serve many purposes some are obvious and some not so obvious.

1. Windshields provide visibility to the driver of the vehicle while keeping wind, weather, and debris out of the vehicle.
2. Windshields keep occupants of the vehicle inside the car in the even of an accident.
3. Windshields help support the roof of the automobile in the even of a rollover.
4. Windshields play a crucial roll when the airbags deploy in an accident. Many airbags deploy hit the windshield and then come back towards the occupants. If the windshield is installed improperly the airbag could push the windshield out of it's frame and make the airbag worthless to the passenger's of the automobile.
5. Windshields cushion the blow in the event a passenger is thrown into it. Windshields are two pieces of glass with a flexible polyvinyl layer holding them together. This will allow the windshield to break and give in without completely shattering and leaving an empty void for the objects to enter or people to exit the vehicle during a collision. This layer in between the two pieces of glass allow the glass to flex a little and cushion the blow in case someone is thrown into the windshield.

Many people don't realize that any crack or damage to your windshield can jeopardize your vehicles safety system. It is important to have any damage repaired as soon as it happens not only to prevent it from spreading and causing you to have to buy a replacement glass but to also keep you and your family safe in the event of an accident.

Most insurance companies will pay 100% of the price of the repair while waiving your deductible. Why will they pay? Because their best interest is your safety, if you are injured it is more expenses for them to have to pay and heaven forbid you die, then you will no longer be a customer of the insurance company.

Windshield Maintenance? .....what is that?

When I first heard the word windshield maintenance, I was like most people and thought what could go into maintaining a piece of glass? Washing it, perhaps? Well the easy answer is no, but it is easier than cleaning it.

Have you ever been driving down the road and "POP" you hear something hit the windshield and immediately you think oh my gosh where is it, I know that cracked my windshield. Upon a quick glance all over you see nothing and think hmmm..... I got lucky that time. Don't be too quick to overlook that sound. The next time you stop, take a look just below the wiper blades and all around the perimeter of the windshield(also known as the frit area, which is the black band along the edge of the windshield). Sometimes rocks will hit these areas and you can't see these areas from inside the vehicle so you think you are in the clear. However, when that crack slowly appears out of nowhere and you look a little closer you will see the original damage was a little chip that was out of sight. The reason I am talking about this is, the last couple of windshields I have repaired had this same damage and the owners had no idea that the chip was even there until the crack started. Another place rock chips like to hide is the notorious "dirt band" we have on our windshield in Colorado, which is the side effect of constantly using our windshield washer fluid and wipers to clean the road spray from our windshields.

So to sum up windshield maintenance, it is not only keeping your windshield clean(big chore for us Coloradans) but also routinely inspecting your windshield for small chips to prevent your windshield from developing a crack and possibly requiring a full replacement. This process only takes a few minutes to perform and will save you lots of money over the course of vehicle ownership.

Got Windshield Damage?

Small chips and damage to windshields are often overlooked. These areas of small damage can spread rapidly especially in the ever changing climate we have here in the Denver area. One day it may be 70 degrees and the next day well below freezing.(I love that health care commercial where is says Colorado is the only state where you can golf in January and ski in June, too funny but so true!) These are prime conditions for this windshield damage to spread. Road vibrations are another reason the damage may spread.

Many people do not realize that comprehensive insurance will pay for these areas of damage to be repaired at no cost to insured. The reason insurance companies pay for this repair is because it saves them a ton of money in the long run. Sure, when you get a new windshield you pay the deductible but the insurance company pays the remainder and this can range anywhere between a few hundred to even a thousand dollars depending on the make and model of the vehicle.

So your skeptical about the look of the repair? While the main purpose of windshield repair is to stabilize the damaged area and restore the structural integrity of the windshield, you can expect to have anywhere from 80-90% improvement in the appearance of the damage. While there will always be scaring where the original damage was, the faster you have the damage repaired the better the repair will look.

Please stay tuned for many benefits of windshield repair in our next blog!
